Nestled beside a historic canal in Rotterdam city center, Westhaven is a three-story residential building that exudes charm and character. Our client, a small developer with a penchant for premium residential buildings, entrusted us with a visionary task - to revitalize this aging gem.
Our preliminary study and sketch design were meticulously crafted, adhering to both the client's aspirations and the city's regulations. The primary challenge for this project was the refurbishment of the existing historic façade and a complete redesign of the interior. We seamlessly integrated insulation, replacing the aging historic frame with modern, high-performance windows, preserving the building's heritage while enhancing its energy efficiency. Inside, we reimagined the entire interior space to create a harmonious blend of living options.
The final design that follow the client requests, features a luxurious backyard duplex, a charming studio apartment, two spacious two-bedroom apartments, and a magnificent penthouse, each with its unique character and charm.
Our commitment to natural materials, including birch, chestnut, larch, and oak for joinery, various types of marble for countertops, polished concrete, and natural oak for the floors.
The result is a refined yet inviting space that pays homage to the building's history while providing all the comforts and conveniences of modern living. It's a testament in preserving the past and creating modern living spaces that reflect the dreams and desires of our clients and gives a new space to the city.
